Every so often, you need to train your employees to ensure they’re updated with all the latest technology and tools your business uses. These training days typically consist of your employees getting together and watching someone explain something. They might complete certain tasks as part of the training before heading back to work the next day.
Normally, you get loads of great information and content from business training days – but it’s a one-and-done scenario. When the day finishes, the content gets washed away from most people’s minds. That’s why you should make better use of training day content by repurposing it for your employees in two highly useful ways.
The ideas below show what you can do, and they give your employees a chance to access this content again if they need help. It also opens the door to utilising training material to create content to draw traffic to your website – in other words, it’s a win-win.
Film The Content And Edit It As A Video
Always film any training day material, as it can make an excellent video at some point. Either upload the full unedited version to your server for anyone to access on-demand or edit it down and upload it to YouTube as part of your content marketing strategy.
Both ideas make a lot of sense. The first one is excellent for employees who can’t make it to the training days. Perhaps they’re on holiday or off sick; now, they get the same education as everyone else, only via a video.
The second idea works beautifully if there are aspects of the training day that would make for great YouTube content. Perhaps the trainer explains how certain processes are linked to your business work, which would be great to share with other people. Maybe you cover key topics that are highly searchable on YouTube. Find the best points and edit them down to make snappy videos for other people to watch while promoting your brand.
Transcribe The Content To Form A Blog Post
Alternatively, use professional transcription services to transform the content into writing. From here, you use the transcription and turn it into a blog or a guide. Again, this could be used to help your employees – but it can also help you make wonderful blog content.
As an example, imagine you’re training your employees to use a new CRM tool. Transcribe the training and pull content from it to write a guide to help others use a CRM tool for their business needs. It sits on your blog and can draw in more search engine traffic – you captivate people with content and then hit them with some CTAs at the end or during the piece to enquire about your services.
All in all, training days produce lots of worthwhile content that will be lost to the wind if you don’t record it. Use the videos to make wonderful visual content and transcribe them to repurpose the same content as blog posts, guides or articles. This approach is useful for employees AND to help you promote your business through targeted content.
