A Ford F-150 pick-up first owned by football superstar David Beckham will be one of the star lots at an exclusive Ford-only auction, due to be held at The International Ford Show on April 30.
The truck, which comes with the original V5 as proof of the former England captain’s ownership, will be among 29 classic Fords to be sold at the auction, beginning at 3pm on Saturday 30 April at the most hotly anticipated new Ford show in the calendar. The sale will take place at Sandown Park, Surrey, as part of the weekend-long event.
Other star cars that will be part of the sale include an extremely rare Ford Talladega Cobra Jet. The model was purpose built as a ‘showroom race car’, with major links to the NASCAR teams of 1969, and was named after the Talladega Superspeedway racetrack in Alabama, which also made its debut in 1969.
Another classic American Ford is a one-off right-hand-drive Mustang convertible. Built at the factory in Dearborn, Michigan, as a special order for the MD of Ford UK, and presented to him as a New Year’s gift in January 1971.
Keeping the European end up, a collection of topless classic Fords will be on offer just in time for the summer, including an extremely rare Fiesta Fly, built by specialist convertors, Crayford, in 1981. It is offered alongside two other Crayford convertibles, both Mk 2 Cortinas, and two immaculate examples of the classic Eighties Escort XR3i Cabriolet.
Other cars expected to command strong bids include a low mileage 1987 Fiesta XR2, a rare 1960 Consul Farnham Estate, a mint 1980 Escort RS2000 and a beautifully restored Mk 1 Cortina 1500GT De Tomaso, a special model built only for the Italian market in 1963.
